TORONTO – The TORONTO BLUE JAYS along with ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS Inc. are pleased to announce the signing of the 2003 AL Cy Young Award Winner, RHP ROY HALLADAY, to a 4-year, $42 million contract (U.S.). HALLADAY, 26, set a franchise record and led the Major Leagues in 2003 with 22 wins (22-7), while posting a 3.25 ERA. The native of Arvada, Colorado, was also named as the Sporting News AL Pitcher of the Year after leading the league for the second consecutive season with 266.0 innings of work. The 6-6, 225lbs. right-hander has 41 wins over the past two seasons, more than any other pitcher in the game during that time. HALLADAY, who tied a franchise record with 15 consecutive wins last season, has a career mark of 59-31 with a 3.84 ERA in 144 games, 119 starts.

In signing this 4-year contract, Roy and his wife Brandy, are not only making a commitment to the Blue Jays and baseball in the city of Toronto, but also to the community. Roy and Brandy are pleased to announce the launch of DOC's BOX for the upcoming summer. Roy through the JAYS CARE FOUNDATION will invite kids, along with their families, from the Hospital for Sick Children, down to Doc's Box, to see selected Blue Jays games. These kids will be treated to a day in a private skybox complete with their very own Doc's Box t-shirt, Blue Jays goodies and, of course, the opportunity to meet ROY HALLADAY himself before the game.

Roy will also donate over $100,000 to the Jays Care Foundation. Blue Jays fans can join Roy Halladay in supporting the Jays Care Foundation through Doc's Strikeout Challenge. Fans can call (416) 341-1456 and make a pledge for every strikeout Roy records during the 2004 season.
