St. Marys – Saturday, May 7th is going to be a busy day at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, as the annual Hike-It-And-Bike-It will kick off Opening Day in cooperation with the St. Marys Parks and Recreation department. 

Families are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to get out in the fresh air, have a lot of fun, spend time with each other and win great prizes.

In addition to the Hike-And-Bike, the Hall will be presenting certificates to the 130 area youth who have been participating in the winter indoor training sessions.

A barbeque and beer tent will be open all day as well, and baseball fans can watch the Hall's new teams playing on St. Marys Cement Company Field.

The schedule for May 7th includes:

10:30AM: - Museum Opens (386 Church St. S.)
11:00AM: - Winter Clinic Certificate Ceremony (St. Marys Cement Company Field)
                   - BBQ and Beer tent will begin (Ceremonial Grounds)
11:30AM: - Hall of Fame doubleheader (St. Marys Cement Company Field)
                   - Hike it and Bike it will begin (directions below)
1:30PM: - Hike it and Bike it will end
2:00PM: - 2nd game of doubleheader begins
4:00PM: - Museum closes

The Hike it and Bike it will be starting on the third base side of the St. Marys Cement Company field beside the BBQ at 11:30am. You’ll then walk or bike past the museum, down St. Maria Street, to the River View Walkway where you will hit First Base. Then you will walk along the River View Walkway to the Hall of Fame parking lot and come upon Second Base.  Head up the Hall of Fame entrance on Water St. and hit Third Base half way up and then continue along back to the picnic table where you started.  Once finished, you will fill out your Lucky Form for prizes such as Blue Jays tickets, autographed baseballs, swimming passes, etc.., and receive your FREE museum admission, FREE pop with purchase of a hotdog or hamburger, FREE surprise Hall of Fame gift and prize bag (while quantities last). So, don’t miss out!

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the 2005 Induction Ceremony slated for Saturday, June 25th at 10am with inductees Dave Stieb, Steve Rogers, Doc Younker and Pop Smith being inducted, and special guests Fergie Jenkins, Gaylord Perry and Miss Canada (and a few more to be named) in attendance.  The ceremony is going to be televised across Canada, so it is hoped that this year will have the largest attendance ever.
