St. Marys On the weekend of June 24-26, The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum will host the Canadian qualifying tournament to determine Canada's representative at the Under-14 National Amateur Baseball Federation's World Series in Joplin, Missouri.
This hosting opportunity has just arisen, and interested teams must notify the Hall of Fame of their intention to participate no later than 12:00 Noon EST on Friday, June 17. A minimum of four teams must enter this tournament in order for it to be sanctioned. All entrants must be OBA-affiliated teams. Further details are below:
Players have to be 14 and under as of August 1st, 2005.
The cost of participating in the qualifier (June 25 wknd) will be $350 per team, with a minimum of three games guaranteed, with playoffs to follow.
For the qualifier (June 25 wknd), it is our intention to begin games on Friday, June 24, with the championship game on Sunday, June 26. Please note that this will also be Induction weekend at the Hall of Fame for Dave Stieb, Steve Rogers, Doc Younker and Pop Smith -- it is going to be a big and busy weekend.
The Hall of Fame will host a free BBQ on the Thursday evening (June 23) for teams that come in that day.
The winning team moving on to the NABF World Series in Joplin, MO (July 14-17) must agree to pay the NABF franchise fee of $150 USD, and the NABF tournament fee of $275 USD
Prizes will be awarded to the Champions of the Baseball Ontario NABF qualifying weekend who are going on to the NABF Under-14 World Series.
Ballparks being used: Hall of Fame, Stratford, London and Mitchell. Tournament hosted by Hall of Fame and all profits or losses are their responsibilities only. Proceeds will be put towards the vandalism recently suffered at the Hall. Please have all teams book their rooms through the Hall of Fame because of special pricing arrangements Teams or OBA have to name Hall of Fame and NABF as additional insured on their insurance policy.
