1998 Pitcher Promoted From
Triple-A To Kansas City Royals

BURLINGTON, VT – 1998 Vermont Expos pitcher Nate Field was promoted from Triple-A to the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night, making Field the 25th former Vermont Expos player to reach the Majors Leagues.

Field was 3-1 with two saves and a 3.09 ERA in 25 games for Vermont in 1998. The right-hander from Littleton, Colorado was released by the Montreal organization in March of 2000 after climbing as high as Triple-A Ottawa.

The Royals signed him in June of 2000 and Field went 4-2 with 19 saves and a 1.48 ERA in 52 games for double-A Wichita in 2001. This season, Field was 0-0 with two saves and a 0.00 ERA with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings for Triple-A Omaha.

Of the 25 Vermont Expos players to reach the Majors, 13 have been pitchers and 12 have been position players. There are currently four former Vermont Expos players on the Montreal Expos roster and seven former Vermont Expos on the roster of other Major League teams.
