Spent first professional season in 1989 pitching with the St. Petersburg Cardinals of the Florida State League compiling a 12-7 record with a 2.23 earned run average...Named as a FSL All-Star...Voted 8th best prospect in FSL by BASEBALL AMERICA...In 1990 began season with Class-AA Arkansas and was promoted to Class-AAA Louisville on 8-1-1990...Began the 1991 season again with Louisville then after his contract was purchased by the St. Louis Cardinals on 8-14-1991 he won his MLB debut the next day vs the New York Mets becoming the first Cardinals pitcher to win his big league debut since 1985 and the first French-Canadian to win a National League game since Claude Raymond last did same on 4-29-1971...Began 1992 in St. Louis going 0-5 with a 6.56 ERA due to illness and a leg injury suffered in spring training...Optioned to the Louisville Redbirds on 6-1-1992 but recalled on 6-8-1992 earning first win of the campaign on 6-14-1992 vs Phillies...Was 10-5 with a 2.67 ERA in 21 starts after recall, winning last 7 decisions...Started the 1993 season in starting rotation...Was 1-3 with 3.44 earned run average inn first 8 starts, before moving to the bullpen then returned to rotation on 6-12-1993 for five starts before going back to the bullpen...Finished season with 7-6 record and 4.33 ERA...In 1994 he had two stints on the DL, missing 77 games...Earned his first career win in Canada vs Expos on 5-14-1994 finishing the year with record of 3-2 and 5.45 ERA...Traded to the Boston Red Sox with OF Mark Whiten on 4-8-1995...Alternating as a starter and reliever he won his American League debut on 4-28-1995 vs Chicago White Sox...Was 3-2 with 3.12 ERA in 36 relief appearances and 4-3 with ERA of 4.86 in 12 starts...Traded to the Montreal Expos with RHP Shayne Bennett and IF/OF Ryan McGuire on 1-10-1996 becoming only the 12th Canadian-born player (8th pitcher) to play in Montreal...Pitched first career shutout on 4-22-1996 vs Cardinals...Made only one appearance in 1997 before being placed on the DL due to torn tendon in left elbow...Had tendon transplant surgery on left elbow on 5-21-1997 missing rest of the season...Opted for free agency on 10-31-1997 then signed minor league contract with Cleveland Indians on 12-18-1997...Was unable to compete in 1998 due to recovery problems from surgery...Signed by the Boston Red Sox as a free agent on 1-5-1999...Spent entire season in bullpen for first time in career...Earned first MLB win since 8-3-1996 on 5-6-1999 vs Rangers...Did not allow more than three hits in any one appearance...Finished season with a 2-0 record and 3.69 ERA...In 2000 pitched in career-high 64 games...Finished career-high 12 games compiling a 3-3 record with 4.61 ERA...Signed with the Philadelphia Philles as a free agent on 11-28-2000 and is pitching for them as the current 2001 season moves ahead...
