CBL names Kirk Sawyers
first GM of the
London Monarchs

“Kirk is a great fit for the league,” said CBL President and CEO Charlton Lui. “His enthusiasm and knowledge of the game is tremendous, and he will work tirelessly in the London community to ensure the Monarchs baseball experience is something the city and its baseball fans will be proud of,” continued Mr. Lui.
“I have dreamt of a Canadian pro baseball league for years. I am very excited. The city of London deserves a great team for its beautiful ballpark,” said Sawyers, “I’m thrilled to a part of putting that team on the field but what really excites me is the opportunity to make the Monarchs a big part of the community.”
Sawyers, 34, brings a mix of both baseball and business passions to the CBL. With a track record of marketing successes (Molson, NBA Canada, Pfizer – Adam’s Brands, Wendy’s Restaurants, Sears Canada and Perrier Group of Canada) and an understanding of the business end of professional baseball, Sawyers provides the necessary elements to lead the front office of the Monarchs.

“Kirk believes in the CBL and his passion for what we are doing is essential to our success,” said CBL Chairman Tony Riviera.
“There will great baseball on the field,” said Sawyers, “and there will be a fun event at Labatt Park every night. There will be a buzz created in London and the buzz word will be Monarchs.”
Kirk Sawyers joins Sales & Marketing Representative Tim Smart as the first two members of the London Monarchs front office staff. Former Major League All-Star Willie Wilson is the Monarchs first manager.
